Tuesdays in May 6:30 PM in Room B of the Parish Center Sr. Helen Therese and Adult Faith Formation Team
It is a centuries-old custom of Catholics to dedicate the month of May to the Blessed Virgin Mary. The month of May is always a part of the Easter season. The fifty days that we celebrate the Resurrection of Our Lord in the liturgy, is also a time of awaiting the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. Mary was present in the upper room with the apostles prayerfully awaiting the Holy Spirit. The celebration of May as a Marian month fits well with the liturgical celebrations of Easter and Pentecost. During the month of May we will honor Mary by offering the programs listed below:
May 13: “The Heart of the Message of Fatima” The Feast Day of Our Lady of Fatima is May 13. This day commemorates the apparitions of the Virgin Mary to three shepherd children, Lucia, Jacinta, and Francisco in Fatima, Portugal in 1917. After viewing the film entitled “The 13th Day,” we will discuss what happened at Fatima and the heart of the message of Fatima which is hope and peace.
May 20: “Power in My Hands,” A story of hope and the power of prayer which uncovers the beauty, timelessness, and power of the prayer of the rosary.
May 27: “Mary and the Saints” We honor Mary not just the Mother of our Savior, but also as our Spiritual Mother and our ongoing intercessor. The saints provide a powerful example and witness to us of what it means to be a true disciple of Jesus
June 3: "Marian Apparitions of the 20th Century” An apparition of Mary is a supernatural appearance of the Blessed Virgin Mary with a message for the world and often emerge during times of great social or spiritual needs. We will reflect on some of the most famous of those apparitions.
