In 1920, the first resident priest was appointed for Grosse Ile. Father Francis VanAntwerp organized and renewed activities to raise funds to build a rectory on the south end of the church property. The rectory was built in 1925 along with a garage and heating plant for the rectory and church. The Fisher Brothers owned large homes on Grosse Ile and each year donated a car to be raffled off at Father Van's festivals.
In 2000, the old rectory was demolished. A new building was required because the heating system in the garage was outdated for the house and the chapel. A new rectory was built to house Father James Scheick, the new resident priest.
